Coffee and Dessert

Coffee and dessert. The taste of friendship. Let’s talk about all that: coffee, dessert, and friendship. And get a carmelitas recipe!

Pinterest Coffee & Dessert totally inhaled

Coffee and Dessert.

Sigh. I’m just enjoying the idea of a long visit in a quaint coffee shop with a delicious dessert and the companionship of a good friend.

I hope we all can do that again soon, something I now consider a true treasure.

Today is just my dreaming about companionship and our traditions.

And please don’t worry — There has been plenty of coffee. And there have been plenty of desserts over the last few weeks.

Coffee and Dessert:

Let me mention Carmelitas.

Why?

Because I say “dessert first”. The very mention of carmelitas makes me salivate. It’s a bar cookie with oatmeal and caramel and it’s gooey and crunchy all at the same time. Back to this in a second. Let’s talk about coffee, and how carmelitas found me.

Coffee.

There’s a small coffee shop in McDonough, Georgia. It’s called “Queen Bee Coffee.”   (Facebook:  Queen Bee Coffee.)

This family-owned business is in a charming old house that has been beautifully remodeled, salvaging many of the original features.

There is too much to love about this place. Check it out if you want, either online or in person.

Queen Bee is a popular hangout now, with a lot going on.

Friends brought me here when it was new. Gazing into the display of baked goods, I made a selection, asked the name, and purchased it along with my coffee.

It was that crazy-good taste that leaves you speechless.

Carmelitas.

The best recipe for Carmelitas.

About those carmelitas.

Remember: I’m not a food blogger.

Don’t worry; I’ve got a food blogger for you. Averie Cooks. That’s a link to her carmelitas recipe. You’ll need a napkin just to look at her pictures. Like the ones right there. And you’ll see more if you decide to check it out.

My daughter and I have a few go-to recipe resources, and this is one recipe site that never disappoints.

What are you doing for companionship right now? Or on a long-term basis?  I’ve got a post coming up on friendship. So please check back in for that.

If you’ve been hanging around, maybe you’ve picked up on my favorite things. Food, friends, faith, and … finding ways to put away my stuff. 😄

I love my friends, and miss them. We’re stuck at home indefinitely due to the pandemic, and for once we are really thankful for online work, and online communication.  Thanks for connecting here with me.
