Do You Use A Hand-Held Mixer?

I do. Today I will show you my Black and Decker hand mixer, and I’ll show you

  • why it’s best,
  • what features it has,
  • and where I keep it.

I’m not against stand mixers.  Those $500 things are beautiful. You can get one in your kitchen colors and have it do the work for you. Sounds dreamy.

But it doesn’t stow away easily, and I’m always vying for more countertop space during tasks.  I just can’t share with another appliance.

Sorry, Kitchenaid. It’s me, not you. We just can’t be together right now. I need my space.

So sleek and cute, not too heavy, just right.

This is it. The Black and Decker Hand Mixer With Storage.

When you’re not using it, everything fits easily into the sturdy case which snaps tight to the base of the mixer. Nothing to gather up, no parts to find. So compact, so tidy, and still powerful.

And… it comes in colors.

It’s got some funky attachments I will be excited to use one day. Dough hooks and even a whisk. But the standard beaters are what I usually grab, even though they look a little different from my old ones. They are “reinforced nylon” and very easy to clean. They also are designed to have more surface area. You’ll have to read about it.

Several speeds, plus a “turbo boost” button. And the controls are easy to operate while in use. If you’ve ever had one that wasn’t, you know what I mean.

This thing is powerful enough to mix my thick pound cake with no groaning.

There’s still one more bit of information about storage. But first, a question:

Where do you keep it?

Answer honestly.  Did your mom keep some of her hand-held appliances in the box they came in? Mine did.  And confession: I did some of mine too. For a long time. It kept everything together, even when the box developed dents and tears.

It was a big courageous step to give up those boxes, but I did it.  In a second I’ll show you my “mixer” drawer. It really does work for me.

Maybe I can do things in a new way, but still appreciate how it used to be.

Storing your hand-held mixer.

I was able to designate one kitchen drawer for my hand-held appliances. I used pretty adhesive shelf liner to cover the bottom, and also used scrapbook paper to make cord holders. The drawer (picture below) holds the hand mixer, the stick blender, and the electric knife. The product booklets store flat at the back in case I need them.

This has been a satisfying move. If you’re still in the boxes, maybe you can just think about it, eventually making the move to a different storage method.

This review was written because I had some questions from subscribers about the products I mentioned in my recent roundup of household items I loved.

So a more detailed product review will be coming up on several of those items.

This mixer makes a great upgrade to your tired kitchen if it’s been a while.

It also makes a great gift. Sometimes it’s just nice to know what works.

P.S. If you get one in a color, please tell me. That would be so much fun.
