3 CHURCH COOKBOOK DESSERTS

Oh, my, the church cookbooks. You have one, or more, right? Little spots on the pages, where your ingredients got a little splashy?

I have a friend who used the same book that these recipes came from. She always used the name of the recipe combined with the name of the person who submitted it when she talked about what she was making.

Since there’s potential for this to be seen all over the universe (my, that sounds impressive), I won’t publish those names. But I’m thinking them. 😉

LEMON CHESS PIE

This is an “eggy” kind of pie that includes cornmeal which rises to the top to make a beautiful brown crust over the filling. It’s so easy! Stir it up and bake it. If it starts to brown too fast, cover it with foil. It’s done when a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

(If you wish it had no lemon, or you wish it was chocolate, you can find those varieties easily.)

PEACH COBBLER

The classic “crusty” fruit dessert we have all grown to love, made with things you probably have on hand. Loads of butter and sugar make a shiny brown crust that almost tastes like candy.

Some people like to add a sprinkle of cinnamon. I’m a fan of that. And doubling the recipe is always a good idea at our house.

EASY BROWNIES

A buttery brownie that is just right, easy to stir together in a hurry.

It doesn’t make a large batch. And it’s really really good. So this is another case when it’s a good idea to double the recipe if you’ve got some hungry snackers waiting.

What’s the tip of the week?

What kind of woman prints all these dessert recipes right beside the keto recipes?

Somebody who likes to eat, that’s who. 😄

A great combination is to eat your treat, then go for a walk. Or — reverse the order!

Everybody’s got advice on staying fit.  What helps is to recognize some very basic facts.

  1. Sugar isn’t that good for you. So eat less sweets.
  2. Staying active increases your calories burned. It takes a lot of activity to exceed what you take in, but that’s the way to take off pounds. So do a quick exercise routine or a brisk walk every day.
  3. If you weigh and it’s up a couple of pounds, eat less for a day or two. That’s a lot better than waiting for 10 pounds to accumulate before taking action.
  4. Come up with about 4 healthy snacks for when you get that craving between meals.  Choose from just those four.
  5. Make yourself drink more water
  6. Figure out what works for you, and learn to value good health in whatever way you can.

Guess what? I’m talking to myself. Thanks for listening.
