Household Essentials You Will Love

When’s the last time we had a “household essentials” post? Don’t you get excited about a discovery, something you just have to share? I absolutely love that.  (Maybe I need to try and get a job on HSN or an infomercial!)

Seriously, if you’d like to try something new, but you’re not sure, hearing an honest review can give you the information you need to decide.

And if you’re looking for that perfect thing to tuck into a custom gift basket, these items could be a huge help.

Because it has been a long time since I did one of these topics, I will put a little directory below for the previous articles, in case you are looking for something mentioned before.

But first, four things I just HAVE to tell you about right now!

Household Essentials Grammye Recommends

These are things that I can’t wait to tell you about. Just little goods that serve an amazing purpose (or several). Or things that taste delicious.

I’ll mention them here, then also show you the pictures below.

Almond Butter

1. The first is something I just discovered, something to eat: Almond Butter by Georgia Grinders.  This is the perfect almond butter — no added sugar, perfectly roasted almonds, and a touch of coarse salt that gives a tiny crunch just every once in a while.

If you love nut butters, and you notice when they are better, this is a must-have. And fair warning: It’ll cost you. Almond butter is more expensive than peanut butter. But also more healthy. And more delicious.

Try the honey roasted if you like a little sweetness.

So that’s something to eat.

Moisturizing Cream

2. The second item is to put on your skin. This skin lotion is superior to others. It’s worth a try: Cerave.  It has been great for baby eczema, adult moisturizing, and hand lotion. Sooo healing, and so mild. It absorbs quickly.  It’s light and fluffy and fragrance free. It’ll cost you, too. But sometimes you can find coupons online!

Screwdriver

3. Next, the tool I think every household should have: A magnetic change-head screwdriver. This tool takes up very little space, but does the work of several. It contains multiple different heads, stored in the handle.  Keep it handy, maybe in the kitchen, and you won’t have to get your toolbox every time you need to change a battery or take apart something.  I love these so much I have several. The original is still used, but I added a ratcheting one, and another just because I love them.

(Haha: Some time ago I gave one of these to a distant relative in a gift basket at a bridal shower. Years later, when I saw her at a family event, she paused a second and said, “You gave me a screwdriver!” 😂  Hey, everybody has a passion, right?)

Toolbox

4. And next, a toolbox to keep the rest of your household tools in. Is this a hard choice for you? It has been for me. What’s the right toolbox to tuck in a corner somewhere?

If it’s small enough to store easily, it doesn’t hold enough stuff. And if it holds enough stuff, well, you get it.

Indoor chores — like changing batteries, hanging pictures, or repairing small items, can be done easily when your tools are close by.

There’s the outside toolbox, the inside toolbox, the tool drawer — And the list goes on.

I’ve enjoyed the one we ended up getting for our ordinary/common chores. It has compartments in the top for screws, nails, etc., and a larger compartment below for our smaller hammer and an assortment of screwdrivers and pliers. It’s big enough to throw in a few other items, too, but small enough we can move it around easily.  And I can no longer find it online for you. 😩

This one is similar, and is easy to carry: Hart 26″ Toolbox. Sometimes I wish I had a bigger one, like the Hart Stack System. I’ll show you both of these in a minute.

If you’ve been around Grammye’s Front Porch for a while, you know that “Household Essentials” was a little series in 2020. I reviewed random collections of items that really made my life easier.

Today you can enjoy a look back over those topics, and see if any of the lists appeal to you.

Some are common; others are little-known products that make it fun to share. If you want to look closer, click the picture to see the items.

In November 2020 the Fall issue of Household Essentials outlined how to break up with cable using a Roku device and an antenna.   Additionally, there was a link to “50 Amazingly Clever Cheat Sheets To Simplify Home Decorating Projects.”

This list remains one of my favorite resources ever. You’ll see why when you look at it.  E-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g explained!

In September 2020, “Household Essentials That Rock” covered a number of storage items. This included rolling racks, and rolling bins. (Does that make it rocking and rolling?) Also clever furniture lifters that will amaze you. And a link to some DIY storage boxes.

If you love storage ideas, you may see something you need.

In August 2020, GFP covered a whopping list of Household Essentials. This included a Ninja Blender System, storage bins, and some great cleaning products. I shared an amazing metal polish, and a very effective mold remover. There were also office essentials, a lobby dustpan, and an electric dustpan.

The list of cleaning products is definitely an essential.

In July 2020 there were recommendations on great toddler items — plastic chairs and stepstools, as well as a cute potty and urinal. It was also the first time I recommended a safe stepladder for your mama. (Did you get that yet?)

The toddler items make great gifts, or great additions to your home if you have a little one.

The first “Household Essentials” topic at GFP was in June 2020. The focus was kitchen and laundry, and included great hangers for your clothes, handy hampers, Wash-Away Wonder Tape, and some unique corner protectors for your toddler.

Also a microwave, toaster oven, and hand mixer!

As much time as we spend on laundry (all tasks) and in the kitchen, these were some great items to add to your arsenal.

You can also look at “Product Reviews” I’ve done to see the Blackstone Griddle, a car seat, and a few other items.

And now, the product pictures!

First, the delicious almond butter. I’m highlighting this one because it’s a new thing for me and it’s made locally.

And guess what?? I just found it at Kroger!! Including the other varieties.

(And I’ve got another great choice for you that I use all the time, too. Because, well — almond butter. 🥄 )

Here are the rest of today’s recommendations, which I hope you enjoy!

You, Being Here.

I hope today puts a smile on your face and gives you a little joy to pass around.

Joy. My trusty companion.

I remember finding out long ago about the concept of “comic relief” in literature. I was shocked.  They made it seem like “comic” just popped up occasionally to give relief. 😦

And all those years I had been riding trusty old comic almost every minute of my life. 🐴

Who knew?

If you like thinking about emotions, you should watch Disney’s “Inside Out” which is so well done and suitable for kids and adults. Well done? I should say richly done. It’s a repeater for us.
