Mom has no time for anything. She is exhausted, discouraged, overwhelmed. Mom needs encouragement and fulfillment right now. Come here, Mom.
ANOTHER DAY IN THE NON-PORTRAIT SECTION OF MOTHERHOOD
There you are, on your hands and knees, cleaning up pee again.
Feeling like the whole world is peeing and you can’t get it all wiped up.
And it’s not a dream.
Pee wiper. Add that to your resume. 😐
Along with even more unglorious tasks that we just can’t talk about here.
You are a lonely captive in a loud and crowded house, serving others 25 hours a day.
How Are You Doing, Mama?
In world that has always given you a “grade” for everything, it seems like every mark is “unsatisfactory.”
It’s not, but it starts to feel that way.
To add to the trouble, the “grade” you get now is the public picture of your family. Yep, spoken aloud in front of the whole class.
(Cue those disapproving looks and “helpful corrections” from strangers.) 😐😐
So there you are, managing a crisis at 1:00 a.m., realizing you won’t get a shower and you’re out of milk and you’ll have to get gas in the rain because somebody has a dentist appointment in just a few hours.
You can keep it together, unless a friend fully dressed in ironed clothes with a fresh manicure complains about the latest Netflix binge she watched. 😐😐😐
IF CHILDREN ARE IN YOUR FUTURE…
If you’re reading this, and you haven’t had children, we aren’t talking secretly. We just don’t want to ruin your fun.
We were you once. We ironed our clothes and talked on our phones. We ate lunch at places with tablecloths, and we had real haircuts. We watched movies, went dancing, and read books while sunbathing. We dressed only ourselves, and there were no french fries in the seats of our cars.
And though it’s challenging, we are happy to be here.
It’s just today. We’re tired.
We were tired yesterday, too.
For The Mom Who Is Tired And Has No Time:
This post is for you.
You know how many people are looking for help? Two Billion!
Two billion people want to know how to help moms with no time.
So this is for you.
It’s for the struggle you are in, the season that is harder and longer than you expected.
It’s for hope and dreams, and for the beauty of what you do.
Before you read on, please be sure you accept that.
This is for you, for the beauty of what you do.
Except…
There’s this one thing. 🙁 I found out something.
It’s happened before. In the middle of that “research” phase.
THE THING I CANNOT DO
I can’t write it. I can’t finish it.
I cannot. But I’ll tell you exactly why, and you’ll be glad.
This is one of those times when I found the most beautiful answers, the most beautiful perspectives, the most beautiful kindness, already written. Three times.
This happens all the time. The articles I wish I had written. Words that take me straight to the heart of the struggle.
After reading, I know these ladies have exactly what you need.
I have three topics for you, probably my favorite “roundup” of information ever. Because it’s so real.
1. The Real Reason Moms Never Have Enough Time
I’ve linked to A Mother Far From Home before, because I am loving her blog and her very real advice. Yes, advice.
In the post linked below, Rachel Norman tells you an amazing thing about what moms do that steals their time.
We have all done it, but I’ve never seen it named before, the real reason Moms never have enough time. What she says is brilliant.
When you read it, you go, “Yessssss.”
Simple, true, and completely fixable.
How did we not see it?

2. The One Thing You Can Do To Get More Time
How would you like to know this one thing you can do that transforms your days?
This is at Her View From Home, where Allison Maselli tells you exactly what to do and why. It’s not just a problem solved; it’s a new direction. With this single habit you can start right now.
Like someone handing you an extra hour every day!

3. The Better View of Motherhood
This is a comprehensive and inspirational list you will want to print and save, from Keeper Of The Home.
Beth Ricci has compiled 10 truths you need to hear as a mom. Truths that were right there all along!
What a profound job she has done. And she is so right. Not only her article, but also the comments.
Mothers know, and you will be renewed when you read this.
It takes you from completely frustrated to gloriously noble.
10 Truths You Need To Hear by Beth Ricci at Keeper Of The Home.
TO THE MOM WHO HAS NO TIME FOR ANYTHING:
Mom, please receive the soul nourishment in those articles.
Live your days in the single experiences,
see the lights along the way.
And know that every mother before you
has secretly suffered
in the heartaches and the trials.
Your reward awaits you.
Below are the 3 links again, in case you wanted to finish reading here before you click over to them.

Mom, I see you. There, in the moments, the nurture that won’t be:
- framed on Facebook,
- shared on Snapchat, or
- eyed on Instagram.
Get your moments, and stop worrying about the rest.
You’re Mom, the most feared and revered woman in all humanity.
This post is for you.
If “Momguilt” is an issue, please read my post on Momguilt.
And if you’re preparing for May, check out the Mother’s Day post.
Would you like to really get your kitchen organized for kids? I can help you.
😉 If you hang around here a lot, you know something: I like to celebrate the holidays, but I’m more about all the other days.
You can also read a beautiful article called Mothering is Discipleship by Graceanna Castleberry. It’s one I revisit every so often.
We all need to be reminded of our purpose, our mission, and our roles.
😏 Looking for something? Maybe something to enjoy in the peaceful time you just gained in those paragraphs above?
How about a devotional? There is one called The Lord’s Prayer, a 30-Day Devotional at Revive our Hearts for less than $10, and I’ve never been disappointed in anything I got from this organization. You can trust every resource. That’s saying a lot.
If you are in a shopping mood, look at Christianbook Mother’s Day Sale page for some beautiful choices.
What’s the tip of the week?
It’s an instruction.
Do you.
Stop with the pressure of meeting the goals of others. Know your own intentions, and live them.
See the hasty judgments of others as the minor expressions they are.
Hold out for the things you know are important for your household.
Do YOU.

As someone who’s approaching his forties and already finds himself short on time, I do think about how I’ll be able to deal should I have children. That’s a scary thought for me, so thanks for giving me some great resources here to help me learn more!
Stuart, so glad to see you here! And being short on time seems to be a universal problem, doesn’t it? We will have to keep our eyes open for more time-finding options.
